Welcome to the Big Comic Book DataBase CrossGen Comics Resource and Checklist. CrossGen was founded in 1998 by Mark Alessi, as an answer to the problems in the comic industry at that time. Rather than the male-dominated super-hero dominate at the time, CrossGen branched out into a wide variety of genres. CrossGen innovated, and grew at a phenominal rate. In 2003, a scandal involving freelancer payments blew up, nearly destroying CrossGen. By 2004, the company was in bankruptcy. In November of 2004, The Walt Disney Company bought the assests of CrossGen, with an eye to exploiting the Abadazad property.
