The Coming Of The Avengers!: Loki, the Norse god of evil, exiled to the Isle Of The Silent Ones, is obsessed with getting revenge on his brother; Asgard's most favored son, Ant-Man, and The...
Welcome to Avengers 101. Everything you ever wanted to know about The Avengers Volume 1 can be found here. This is my collection, and my interpretation, of the original Avengers series. Some of the pieces of this puzzle are found in other series’, such as the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Defenders and others, including of course, some individual Avengers’ solo magazines.
The original writer for this series was, of course, the master himself, Stan Lee. Stan Lee was the original writer for very nearly all of these Silver Age Marvel series’. But, over the years, the pen was passed, quite a few times. Each writer had their own unique style, but at the same time, faced the challenge of keeping the primary theme consistant to Stan Lee’s original vision: A group of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, who have little in common, except their common cause toward the greater good, facing down the threats that no individual hero could withstand.
In this series, there are gods, aliens, mutants, androids and super-humans, with real life problems and challenges. There are love triangles, petty jealousies, power struggles, insecurities, unforeseen tragedies, self-sacrifices, overblown egos, mental breakdowns and heroes with hang-ups. "The Avengers" succeeds in being the ultimate in Sci-Fi and human drama, simultaneously, and on a grand cosmic scale. These are the legendary tales of indomitable heroes and unvanquishable evil. So, go back to Page 1, save it to your “favorites”, and enjoy it every day!
