Prisoners Of The Pharaoh!: Mister Fantastic calls Ben and Alicia in to the Fantastic Four’s Manhattan headquarters, because he has some important news that concerns Alicia. The day before,...
Hindsight being 20/20, no pun intended, if they had taken Alicia to ancient Egypt, to be treated there, on the spot, the sooner the better, and if they had left the Invisible Girl behind to man the controls, the story would have played out differently and would’ve had a different outcome. Most likely, the pharaoh would have taken Alicia as his queen, and he would have made sure her eyesight was restored.
Someday it will be revealed that the Pharaoh Rama-Tut is a descendant of the line of Richards. John Byrne put the pieces of the puzzle together, in Fantastic Four #271, #272 and #273, which laid the groundwork for the premise that the Pharaoh Rama-Tut a.k.a. Kang a.k.a. Immortus a.k.a Nathaniel Richards II was named after Reed Richards’ father, Nathaniel Richards I, not coincidentally a time-traveler. Nathaniel I sprang forth two lineages, in two different timestreams. Nathaniel II revealed in this story that he is of a timestream where there were stereovisions of the Fantastic Four available. But, in the alternate timeline, there is no Fantastic Four. So, how is it feasible? The answer goes back to this first appearance. There, in the two panels which proffered still clips of the stereovisions, which Nathaniel II so fervently watched: In the first, there is depicted an old west style call ’em out gunfight. In the second frame, Mister Fantastic, with his family and teammates also in the frame, is disarming someone of their handgun. Well, while searching for his father, Reed and company tracked the old man down to that alternate timeline, in issue #272. In it, they discover high-tech cowboys, and a few other oddities. That aforementioned gunfight was even featured.
Apparently, it was during this visit to that alternate timeline, that the Fantastic Four was videoed. By issue #273, Nathaniel I was found, and Reed had a half brother, whose lineage will eventually produce Nathaniel II a.k.a. Pharaoh Rama-Tut a.k.a. Kang, a.k.a. Immortus. So, it turns out that this multifaceted villain/antihero is Reed’s half great nephew, many times removed.
