Jean Grey is being pursued by various people both human and mutant so they can exploit her psychic powers. The main bad guy in this story arc happens to be the Hellfire Club. Emma Frost, the daugther of Xavier, is attempting to acquire the title "White Queen of the Inner Circle." To do this she must have a suitable candidate to induct hence Jean Grey.
